Additional ACA System Features
Your system requirements are minimal by today's standards. The Abduction Central Alert © (ACA) software program will install on any Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or Windows 2000 computer and function through any type of connection to the Internet, either a dialup connection (such as AOL) or any dedicated connection.
When an Officer activates the system by "clicking" on the ACA icon on the Hosts computer monitor, a form will appear with the areas to be filled in for all information pertaining to the child abduction or events leading to the child being reported as missing. This form is designed to be "user friendly". It provides the ability to move from field to field with ease, either by selecting with the mouse or just pressing the Tab key button on the keyboard to go forward, or Shift/Tab keys to go back to a previous field.
This is an entirely "outbound" form. There are no additional network security risks by having this program on your computer. Once the computer is connected to the Internet, simply select the icon to open the form, fill it out, press the submit key, and the information is sent from your computer to the Child Alert Foundation servers. This is where the new web page is generated and the database computers are activated to send that information to your "zone of influence"; and all of the contacts in your 100-mile radius area. This system was specifically designed to minimize any security risks, since this is a concern to all Internet users.
Additionally, features have been added to the system which allow you to control exactly how you want it to work. You can set it up to contact some or all of the Contacts in your area, as well as add new Contacts. You can automatically generate posters, check on or update the status of an abduction as soon as the information is available. Case Closure provides you with the ability to send a message to all of your Contacts that the situation has been resolved and the individual has been accounted for. It is entirely up to the department as to how the system works from your location.
The ACA system is constantly being upgraded and new features added. These upgrades will be supplied to all Host locations at no charge and we encourage all Hosts to make any suggestions that they feel may enhance the usability of the system for themselves, and for others. We want your input. We are a combination of the system designers, telecommunication/database specialists, computer programmers, Internet service providers, and website designers, all working to help protect our communities.
All you need is a computer, a connection to the Internet, and a desire to have the very latest technology available to assist your department in protecting the children and the community. The Abduction Central Alert System has been designed to make this technology available to all law officers, regardless of the size of the community. You are able to send information and also receive information you might otherwise not have available to your department.
